Application of chlorine dioxide in the production of sugar, sugar beet and other sugar manufacturing industries

    Release date:2017-12-13 10-21-16

    1. The role of chlorine dioxide in the filtration stage of sugar cane juice and beet juice (hereinafter referred to as sugar juice):

The main bacteria in the juice, Leuconostoc, and actinomycetes can produce spores. Most bacterial spores are very heat resistant and survive at 60-65 °C. Most of them were killed at 100 ° C, but some of them were not dead, just lost activity and stopped moving. When the temperature drops to a certain level, it is revived and regenerated. Therefore, although the juice is subjected to a long period of high temperature in the precipitator, the bacterial spores will soon grow and resume activity after the temperature is lowered.

In recent years, some sugar factories have found that microorganisms in the filter juice have been propagated, resulting in a decrease in the pH of the filter juice, a decrease in purity, and sometimes a smell of acidity; a black film or a white bead-like agglomerate at the dead corner of the device, and a pump in severe cases. Also found in the filter juice. When the juice is filtered, if the juice is clear, there are not many microorganisms; if the juice is turbid, a large amount of microorganisms enter the filtrate with the sediment. When filtering using a vacuum suction filter, vacuum suction partially evaporates the juice and lowers the temperature. In the subsequent juice storage tanks and lines, the microorganisms in the filter juice reproduce and accumulate fermentation products at the dead ends of the equipment and piping. In general, if the temperature is not lower than 75 ° C, the activity of the microorganisms in the juice is not obvious; if it is lower than 70 ° C, the activity is more active, and if it is lower than 65 ° C, a large problem occurs.

At present, sugar mills generally use a filterless vacuum suction filter, the filter juice is turbid, and most sugar factories return it to the precipitator. Repeated circulation of microorganisms in the juice increases the heat resistance and has a greater adverse effect. When using a vacuum suction filter, adding chlorine dioxide at a concentration of 5-8 ppm at the inlet of the mud can greatly reduce the bacteria in the filter juice and also reduce the color of the filter juice. In addition, a small amount of chlorine dioxide can be added in the stage of assisting the crystal and honey, so as to ensure that the bacteria are not breeding, increase the crystallization rate of the sugar, and increase the gloss to improve the quality.

    2. Disinfection of process equipment, equipment, containers, production lines, etc.:

Sugarcane and sugar beet contain a lot of microorganisms. Accumulation of sugarcane and sugar beet is easy to produce adverse effects such as fermentation. Sugar and protein in sugar juice are good nutrients, and it is easy to breed bacteria. Many equipments in the clarification section often have microbial activities. It is necessary to pay serious attention to the cleaning of various equipment containers and workshops, especially to prevent the formation of "cane rice" and other bacterial products at the corners of the equipment. The equipment can be sterilized with 50ppm chlorine dioxide, and the effect is very good.

In the sedimentation tank, bacteria are mainly attached to the sediment. If the temperature of the juice drops below 75 ° C, the microorganisms will reproduce, causing the juice to become sour and the quality to drop rapidly. Some sugar mills have a large amount of mud in the sedimentator, a long residence time, a drop in temperature, a significant decrease in the pH of the mud (eg, as low as 6.3 or less), and a decrease in purity. Microbial activity is an important cause. Always pay attention to the condition of the mud. If its pH is low or yellow, it means that bacteria in the sediment in the precipitator will multiply and speed up the discharge and removal. This problem is likely to occur if the precipitator drain is not smooth or has a dead angle inside.

Disinfection of chlorine dioxide disinfectants with juicers, precipitators, sedimentation tanks, production lines, etc. instead of chlorine preparations will have a significant improvement in the control of sterilization, safety, corrosion, residue and odor.

The specific use method is as follows: the juicer, the precipitator, the sedimentation tank, the production line, etc. are cleaned, soaked with 50 mg/L chlorine dioxide disinfectant for 5-10 minutes or sprayed with 50-60 ppm chlorine dioxide disinfectant. can. It can be used without rinsing after disinfection.
